Job Description

The Delivery Driver is responsible for the timely transportation of products and materials from origin to destination as assigned. Our drivers load and unload products and stage materials at our site(s) and at our customers' or vendors' place of business, ensuring that all required administrative paperwork is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies delivery. Drivers are responsible for adherence to all recordkeeping and other rules & regulations issued by the Department of Transportation.

Essential Functions

  • Operates light-duty vehicles not regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
  • Complies with applicable regulations and Company processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions; follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product
  • Observes traffic laws and regulations to avoid citations; immediately reports to the Manager any citation or accident/incident
  • Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
  • Safely secures loads using straps and tie-downs to prevent damage and minimize the risk of unintended movement
  • Maintains accurate driver logs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Operates forklifts, hand trucks, or other material handling & moving equipment
  • Verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance as appropriate
  • Communicates professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing (English)
  • May perform packing, shipping, warehousing, or other duties as assigned when not driving
  • A Valid Driver's license is required and must be maintained; an acceptable driving history is required 
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
  • Regular travel, including some overnight travel, is required

This role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore, qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):

  • An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or
  • An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or
  • An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"

Required Education and Work Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent 
  • Interstate drivers must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • A minimum of three (3) years of driving experience driving large vans, trucks with trailers, or similar oversized vehicles
  • Experience driving a forklift to move oversized items in a shop environment is preferred

Other Required Skills and Abilities

  • Valid Driver's License 
  • An acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) is required to maintain eligibility as a covered driver on the Company auto insurance policy

Physical Demands and Work Environment

To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility
  • Sit for long periods while driving
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using material handling & lifting devices as appropriate
  • Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders; regularly step up and down to/from forklift, truck, or trailer bed
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Accurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards
  • Visual acuity to pass the required eye exam
  • Use hands and fingers, legs, and feet to operate motor vehicles, forklifts, and fasten straps & tie-downs

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a motor vehicle and in a manufacturing shop and warehouse environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:

  • Excessive noise - hearing protection required (occasionally)
  • Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear is required
