Job Overview:

Are you passionate about dementia education, community engagement, and helping others build the skills needed to support individuals living with dementia? Elder Options is seeking a Dementia Training Specialist to deliver workforce training programs that strengthen dementia-capable services throughout North Central Florida. Travel is required and will be reimbursed at the State rate.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide training, education, and ongoing support to Community Health Workers (CHWs), volunteers, caregivers, community partners, and other professionals serving older adults and families affected by dementia. A significant part of this position involves leading engaging workshops and educational sessions in person, virtually, and through hybrid formats. You will help prepare training materials, track participant outcomes, support volunteer and CHW development, and ensure training programs are delivered consistently and effectively across the region.

The Dementia Training Specialist will also work with community organizations, healthcare providers, faith-based groups, and other partners to expand awareness of available programs and identify individuals interested in becoming trained Community Health Workers, volunteers, or caregiver support facilitators.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in human services, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate is an effective trainer, facilitator, and relationship builder who enjoys working with diverse audiences and helping others gain confidence in their ability to support individuals living with dementia. Strong presentation skills, experience facilitating groups, and the ability to communicate complex information in a practical and approachable manner are essential.

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, use hands to handle objects, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the service area.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with older adults, family caregivers, Community Health Workers, volunteer programs, dementia care, or health education initiatives is strongly preferred. Fluent Spanish speaker.
