Description
The Die Setter - Advance position will:
Provide accurate and timely setting of dies into power presses, and set ups must result in maximum efficiency, quality, and safety considerations. Also required to perform other tasks, as assigned by his or her supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain supplies, position work and follow verbal or written instructions
- Obtain and set up hand tooling and dies on press breaks and other presses in the department
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Read scales, micrometers and calipers
- Instruct operators in safe and proper methods of operation
- Obtain first piece inspection approval and when removing dies, visually evaluate last piece left in dies for apparent problems
- Utilize knowledge and experience on a wide variety of presses and techniques needed to set up such equipment
- Complete tasks as directed with minimum supervision
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
- Reports problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to supervisor
- Perform other duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position
- Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities
- Desire to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities as well as dependable work ethic
- Follow all company rules and policies
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Adequate communication skills; verbal and written
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Able to set-up 250, 232, 211, Amada and Staker
- Able to read blue prints, scales, micrometers and calipers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physically able to do bending, twisting, gripping, grasping, stooping and lifting involving back and knees
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Physically able to stand for up to 8 hours
- Requires good hand-eye coordination
- Physically able to move dies while doing set-up duties.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience/combined education
- Must have 3 years of work experience as a die setter of press break equipment
