Position Summary
CL Construction is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and crushing equipment used in construction and demolition operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on diesel equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine service on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and crushing equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair concrete crushers and related demolition equipment
- Inspect equipment to identify safety concerns and needed repairs
- Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and hydraulic systems
- Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately
- Operate diagnostic tools and equipment
- Respond to breakdowns and field service calls as needed
- Ensure equipment remains in compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with supervisors and operators
Qualifications
- Previous diesel mechanic experience required
- Experience working on heavy equipment and construction equipment required
- Experience working on crushers, screening plants, or aggregate equipment strongly preferred
- Experience supporting demolition or recycling operations is a plus
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures efficiently
- Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to read service manuals and schematics
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL preferred but not required
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
