JOB TITLE: Digital and Social Media Specialist

DEPT: Marketing and Communications

LOCATION: Maury Regional Medical Center - Columbia, TN

SHIFT: Full-time, Days, 8am-4:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:

The Digital & Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing, managing and optimizing the health system’s digital presence across social media platforms, websites and other digital communication channels. This position creates engaging content, supports strategic marketing and communications initiatives, monitors online reputation, analyzes performance metrics and helps strengthen the organization's brand awareness and community engagement. The specialist serves as a storyteller, content creator and digital strategist, ensuring all communications align with the health system’s mission, values and brand standards.

Core Responsibilities:

Social Media Management
• Develop, implement and maintain social media strategies across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and emerging channels.
• Create and publish engaging content including graphics, videos, photography, stories, reels and written posts.
• Manage the social media content calendar and coordinate content with service line campaigns, organizational priorities and community events.
• Monitor social media channels for comments, messages and engagement opportunities, responding appropriately and escalating issues when necessary.
• Stay informed on emerging social media trends, platform updates and best practices.

Content Creation & Storytelling
• Write compelling copy that supports organizational goals, promotes services and highlights patient stories, team member recognition, physicians and community impact.
• Capture and edit photography and video content for social media, digital advertising and website use.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify meaningful stories that reinforce the organization's mission and brand.
• Assist with development of multimedia content including short-form videos, interviews and promotional campaigns.

Website & Digital Content
• Update website content through the organization's content management system (CMS).
• Ensure website content remains accurate, engaging and optimized for user experience.
• Support search engine optimization (SEO) and/or AI optimization (AIO) initiatives through content development and optimization.
• Assist with digital marketing campaigns, landing pages and online promotional efforts.

Digital Advertising
• Support development and execution of digital advertising campaigns across social media, search and display platforms.
• Assist with audience targeting, campaign monitoring and performance optimization.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure campaigns align with organizational goals. Reputation & Community Engagement
• Monitor online reviews and reputation management platforms.
• Assist in developing strategies to enhance patient and community engagement online.
• Track social sentiment and identify opportunities to strengthen public perception of the organization.

Analytics & Reporting
• Monitor and analyze performance metrics across social media, websites and digital campaigns.
• Prepare regular reports summarizing key performance indicators, trends and recommendations.
• Use data insights to improve content effectiveness, audience engagement and campaign outcomes.

Collaboration & Brand Stewardship
• Collaborate with marketing, communications, physician relations, recruitment, service line leaders and other departments to support strategic initiatives.
• Ensure all digital communications maintain brand consistency, messaging standards and compliance requirements.
• Support crisis communication and urgent communication needs as directed. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media or a related field Required

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, communications or related field Preferred
• Healthcare marketing or healthcare communications experience Preferred
• Experience creating content for multiple social media platforms and digital channels Preferred
