Work Environment
This is an on-site leadership role within a luxury hotel or resort where Five-Star AudioVisual operates as an embedded audiovisual partner. Directors work closely with hotel leadership, sales, catering, and event teams to ensure events run smoothly from planning through execution. You represent both Five-Star AudioVisual and the hotel with professionalism, technical confidence, and hospitality-first service.

Position Summary
The Director, AudioVisual is responsible for leading the in-house audiovisual operation at an assigned hotel or resort. This role oversees daily operations, revenue performance, team leadership, and client satisfaction, ensuring every event is delivered with technical excellence and thoughtful service.
The Director serves as a trusted partner to hotel leadership and a hands-on leader for the AV team; balancing strategy with execution while driving service quality, team development, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Audiovisual Operations
Oversee all daily AV operations including event setup, strike, scheduling, and equipment maintenance
Ensure events are executed smoothly, safely, and to Five-Star and hotel standards
Manage inventory, storage, transportation, and proper use of audiovisual equipment
Maintain consistent technical quality across meetings, conferences, and live events
Ensure accurate billing, approvals, and compliance with company financial procedures
Uphold a polished, professional appearance for yourself and the AV team
Serve as the primary point of contact between Five-Star AudioVisual and hotel leadership
Sales & Revenue Performance
Partner with hotel sales and catering teams to support group business and maximize AV revenue
Consult with clients to understand event goals and recommend appropriate technology solutions
Identify opportunities to enhance events through creative AV design and upselling
Prepare clear, accurate proposals that outline scope, pricing, and technical details
Forecast revenue and track performance metrics in collaboration with regional leadership
Represent Five-Star AudioVisual during site visits, pre-conference meetings, and hotel walkthroughs
Client & Guest Experience
Act as a visible leader during events, ensuring clients feel supported and confident
Build strong relationships with planners, hotel partners, and repeat clients
Proactively address challenges and resolve issues with professionalism and urgency
Maintain Five-Star’s reputation for reliability, hospitality, and technical excellence
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, train, and mentor the on-site audiovisual team
Create a positive, respectful, and performance-driven work environment
Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance feedback
Support ongoing technical training and professional development
Ensure team members are proficient with company software and event systems
Lead by example with integrity, accountability, and enthusiasm
