Job Summary: The Director of Business Operations is a high-impact, strategic leadership role designed to bridge executive vision, commercial goals, and technical execution across our crewing and labor management platforms. Sitting at the intersection of business strategy and technical development, you will own the macro prioritization of business demands, ensuring that all operational workflows, system requirements, and market expansion initiatives passed to the technical Product Ops team directly drive corporate efficiency, maximize return on investment (ROI), or mitigate revenue risks.
You will manage and scale a high-performing Business Operations (BizOps) team, acting as the primary gatekeeper for business requirements and the key strategic partner to technical and product leadership.
General Duties/Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Governance: Partner directly with executive leadership to translate macro corporate strategy and crewing operations goals into a clear, prioritized operational roadmap.
- Stakeholder & Demand Management: Act as the ultimate gatekeeper for incoming business requests from various business units (Sales, Crewing, Payroll, HR), vetting them for strategic alignment and ROI before they reach the technical team.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Maintain an ironclad, collaborative alliance with the technical Product Ops leadership to align business priorities with development capacity, system integrations, and software sprint cycles.
- Operational Blueprinting: Act as the ultimate business owner for major operational shifts, system transitions, and client-facing onboarding rollouts across regional markets.
- Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and scale the core Business Operations and Operations Experience Teams.
- Culture & Governance: Cultivate a highly accountable, data-driven culture that prioritizes process optimization, meticulous documentation, and financial justification for all technical requests.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Business ROI on Tech Deployments: Total annual financial value unlocked, revenue protected, or manual hours saved from business requirements successfully executed by the technical team.
- Requirements Acceptance Rate: Percentage of business requirements packages delivered to Product Ops that are accepted into development without major revisions, scope creep, or structural alignment friction.
- Operational Friction Reduction: Overall percentage reduction in cycle times and manual touchpoints across corporate crewing, scheduling, back end and labor operations workflows.
Requirements
- Experience: 8–10+ years of progressive experience in business operations, corporate strategy, management consulting, or a highly strategic product management role. At least 3+ years in a people-management or team leadership capacity.
- Cross-Functional Expertise: Proven track record of successfully interfacing with technical, engineering, or product development departments. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and Product Operations structures is highly preferred.
- Strategic Acumen: Exceptional ability to deconstruct complex, messy business problems into structured, scalable frameworks and clear financial business cases.
- Industry Context: Experience in workforce management, high-volume staffing, live events, payroll, or field operations management platforms is highly desirable.
- Communication: Masterful stakeholder management skills with the ability to confidently align expectations across executive leadership, frontline crewing managers, and engineering teams.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a strong plus.
