Position Title: Director of Facilities and Transportation
Reports to: Superintendent
Salary: $95,000-$105,000 commensurate with experience
Work year: 12-months
Position Summary:
The Oxford Public School District is seeking a strategic, versatile, and proactive Director of Facilities and Transportation to join our high-performing team. In this role, you will oversee facility operations, manage capital projects and District long-term capital planning, as well as manage all aspects of District transportation. This position requires a motivated, experienced professional, knowledgeable in all aspects of public school facilities management and applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive long term capital plan/long range facilities master plan aligned with District’s strategic plan and enrollment projections, as well as collaborate with Town’s capital projects committees
- Lead and strategize the planning, organizing, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of the school facilities’ goals and objectives in the most cost efficient and effective manner
- Manage all aspects of the District’s facilities, including managing the daily operations of the school facilities department through hands-on teamwork with central office and school-based administration and support staff
- Develop and administer the school facilities department’s operating and capital budgets
- Plan and manage all aspects of District transportation
- Meet regularly with District transportation company and oversee District bus drivers/buses/vans
- Hire vendors and contractors to repair, maintain, and provide preventive maintenance to District facilities and equipment
- Manage vendor contracts and service agreements
- Oversee facility operations, including managing and supervising daily work of custodial staff and District Maintenance Technician
- Collaborate to provide emergency communication for transportation delays
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal codes and regulations, including OSHA, DEP, and Department of Education requirements
- Presents facilities-related reports and recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Education
- Attend Board of Education facility committee meetings, finance committee meetings as needed, business and workshop meetings as needed, and town meetings as needed
- Utilizes facilities management software systems to track work orders, maintenance schedules, and asset management
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, public administration, or related field or related experience in an associated field
- 5+ years of experience in facilities management
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong understanding of public school facilities regulations and requirements
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent may deem acceptable and appropriate
