Position Overview
GTI is seeking a Director of Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (S&OP) to lead the company's integrated planning process across Sales, Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, and Executive Leadership. This leader will establish and drive a best-in-class S&OP process that aligns customer demand, production capacity, material availability, inventory strategy, and financial performance into a single executable operating plan.
The Director of S&OP will own the monthly S&OP cadence, lead executive planning reviews, develop long-range capacity planning strategies, and create visibility into demand, supply, inventory, labor, and manufacturing constraints. This role is highly cross-functional and will serve as the operational quarterback responsible for ensuring GTI can execute its aggressive growth plans while maintaining customer commitments and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading S&OP or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) within complex manufacturing, contract manufacturing, industrial equipment, or engineered-to-order environments.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Operations Planning Leadership
• Own and continuously improve GTI's Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (S&OP) process across all manufacturing facilities
• Lead the monthly S&OP cycle, including Demand Review, Supply Review, Inventory Review, Executive S&OP, and action tracking
• Develop an integrated operating plan balancing customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, labor, and financial objectives
• Drive executive decision-making through structured planning reviews and scenario analysis
• Establish standardized planning processes, KPIs, governance, and reporting across the organization
Demand Planning & Forecast Management
• Partner with Sales, Business Development, Program Management, and Executive Leadership to develop rolling demand forecasts
• Consolidate customer forecasts, backlog, pipeline, and production demand into executable manufacturing plans
• Analyze forecast accuracy, demand variability, and customer trends to improve planning performance
• Develop demand scenarios supporting growth, seasonality, customer changes, and market conditions
• Improve forecast accuracy through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration
Supply Planning & Capacity Management
• Lead enterprise supply planning activities across procurement, production planning, inventory, and manufacturing operations
• Balance customer demand against labor, equipment, facility, supplier, and inventory constraints
• Develop capacity models supporting fabrication, welding, paint, electrical integration, mechanical assembly, and final system build operations
• Identify bottlenecks and capacity limitations before they impact customer deliveries
• Recommend investments in labor, equipment, automation, inventory, or suppliers to support future growth
Inventory Strategy & Materials Planning
• Establish inventory strategies that balance customer service, working capital, and manufacturing efficiency
• Monitor inventory health, excess inventory, slow-moving materials, shortages, and safety stock levels
• Partner with Procurement and Materials Management to improve inventory turns and material availability
• Drive inventory optimization initiatives across all facilities
• Support strategic sourcing decisions impacting inventory and manufacturing performance
Executive Business Planning
• Prepare executive-level reporting summarizing demand, supply, inventory, capacity, backlog, and operational performance
• Lead Executive S&OP meetings with senior leadership
• Develop dashboards, KPIs, and planning metrics that drive operational decisions
• Present recommendations regarding production priorities, inventory investment, capital requirements, and supply chain risks
• Support annual operating plans, strategic planning, and long-range business forecasting
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Operations leaders
• Align New Product Introduction (NPI), production launches, and customer program schedules with operational capacity
• Drive accountability across departments for planning accuracy and execution
• Facilitate cross-functional decision-making to resolve demand, supply, and capacity conflicts
• Support enterprise-wide operational planning initiatives
Continuous Improvement & Systems Development
• Develop scalable S&OP and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes supporting GTI's continued growth
• Improve planning systems, ERP utilization, reporting automation, and forecasting tools
• Establish planning standards, operating procedures, and governance models
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and data-driven decision making
• Support implementation of advanced planning systems and supply chain technologies
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Finance, or related discipline
• 10+ years of progressive experience in S&OP, Integrated Business Planning, Supply Chain Planning, Operations Planning, or Manufacturing Operations
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing planning or supply chain organizations
• Experience leading enterprise S&OP processes within manufacturing or engineered-to-order environments
• Strong understanding of demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, capacity planning, and production scheduling
• Experience supporting complex manufacturing operations with multiple product lines and facilities
• Strong analytical, financial, and operational decision-making skills
• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
• Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in contract manufacturing, modular construction, industrial equipment, data centers, BESS, power generation, or heavy industrial manufacturing
• Experience supporting high-growth manufacturing organizations
• APICS CPIM, CSCP, IBF CPF/CPF, or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
• Experience implementing or optimizing ERP, APS, or Integrated Business Planning systems
• MBA or Master's degree preferred
