Job Description

Accountability:

Responsible for the oversight of Technical and Skilled Trade programs at Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois, including grant funded Training and Employment Programs. Responsible for program monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement; budgeting and fund development; program accreditation; and overall community presence and involvement.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Program Management

  • Promotes and models the mission of Goodwill through all services and programs.
  • Provides guidance, leadership, and oversight for maintenance of vocational programs, including Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship, Clean Energy Navigator and Network Programs, and HVAC-R Training Program. 
  • Creates and nurtures strategic partnerships, including employers, partners, and key leaders for programming.
  • Prepares reports and budgets and proactively works with the finance team and funders to track expenditures and ensure compliance with program requirements and funder approved budgets.
  • Ensures decisions are data-driven with strong attention to metrics, data, and trends.
  • Ensures mission services standards and regulations are met in all programs including state and federal guidelines, Goodwill Industries International regulations, and any other funding and/or regulatory statutes.

Leadership and Management

  • Motivates, coaches, and leads high performing Skilled Trades teams to achieve identified outcomes and expected results for identified programs.
  • Hires, trains, and coaches staff to work with participants and community partners to achieve strategic initiatives throughout service territory.
  • Works with program managers and partners to ensure thorough and accurate tracking of grant metrics.
  • Establishes and maintains high levels of service and confidentiality.

Operational Excellence

  • Understands and implements effective tools for data collection and reporting.
  • Ensures continuity of current funding with federal, state, and local agencies and works toward expanding funding opportunities.
  • Ensures decisions are data-driven with strong attention to metrics, data, and trends.
  • Evaluates and improves programs and services to ensure Goodwill is offering relevant, equitable, and effective programs to the community.
  • Assists in applications for complimentary funding sources including private and public funding sources.  
  • Establishes and maintains high levels of service and confidentiality.

  •  Strong program performance, including meeting federal, state, local and/or funder guidelines and expectations.
  •  A strong, highly motivated management team who are well versed in program fields or disciplines.
  • Continuity and adherence to compliance and regulatory standards and a drive for continuous improvement in all programs.
  •  High engagement with key relationships and other stakeholders.

Environment:

The work is conducted at the Goodwill Administration and Mission Building with frequent travel to partner agencies and other Goodwill locations.  Hours are primarily daytime hours, but on occasion, can include evening and/or weekend hours. Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment, which is generally climate-controlled but may involve exposure to typical office noise such as phones, printers, and conversations. The role involves computer-based tasks, meetings, and collaboration with colleagues and community partners, as well as occasional lifting of office and program supplies and moving between workspaces.

Sensory and Physical Requirements:

Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job. Ability to manage multiple programs, individuals, and priorities effectively.
