Director of Operations/Facilities


Location: Bloomfield, New Mexico
Reports To: Superintendent
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Commensurate with Experience


Position Summary


The Director of Operations serves as a member of the district leadership team and is responsible for overseeing district operations, facilities, and support services. This position provides leadership for Maintenance, Transportation, Student Nutrition, Custodial Services, Safety, Data Reporting, and district operational initiatives. The Director of Operations works closely with the Superintendent, Board of Education, staff, parents, and community stakeholders to ensure efficient operations that support student success.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership and Supervision


 



  • Supervise and evaluate operational department leaders and support staff.



  • Provide leadership, accountability, and professional development opportunities.



  • Address and resolve student, staff, parent, and community concerns.


 


Operations Management


 



  • Oversee Maintenance, Transportation, Student Nutrition, and Custodial Services.



  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.



  • Monitor operational effectiveness and recommend improvements.



  • Coordinate facility use and oversee district safety and emergency preparedness efforts.


 


Facilities and Project Management


 



  • Oversee preventive maintenance, facility improvements, and capital projects.



  • Ensure development and submission of required facilities plans and reports.



  • Manage district projects and grant-funded initiatives to ensure timely completion and compliance.


 


Budget and Resource Management


 



  • Develop and monitor operational budgets.



  • Ensure effective use of district resources aligned with strategic priorities.



  • Collaborate with district leadership on financial planning and operational needs.


 


Compliance and Reporting


 



  • Ensure compliance with operational regulations and grant requirements.



  • Oversee district data reporting and operational documentation.



  • Prepare reports and updates for the Superintendent and Board of Education.


 


Community Relations


 



  • Build positive relationships with staff, parents, community partners, and agencies.



  • Represent the district at meetings and public events related to operations and facilities.


 


Qualifications


Education


 



  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.


 


Licensure


 



  • Valid New Mexico Educational Administrator License preferred.


 


Experience


 



  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience in school district operations, administration, or a related field.



  • Experience supervising multiple departments and managing budgets, facilities, or operational services.


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


 



  • Knowledge of school district operations and applicable state and federal regulations.



  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.



  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.


 


Working Conditions


 



  • Office and on-site work at district facilities.



  • Occasional evening, weekend, and travel requirements.
