Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales Director to join our dynamic and growing Walmart and Sam’s Club team in Bentonville. This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving sales growth, shipments, market share, profitability, and promotional execution while operating within corporate margin objectives. The ideal candidate will partner closely with Walmart merchants to develop and execute category and account strategies, identify emerging trends, uncover growth opportunities, and drive continuous business improvement. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to translate insights into actionable plans that deliver sustainable growth.
Position Requirements:
Education/Experience:
- 10 years sales management experience within CPG industry, Sales Broker, or at Walmart.
- Toy industry, import, and seasonal brand experience a plus.
- Experience building relationships and partnering with Walmart Merchants.
- A proven record of building sales, share, and profitability at Walmart in a competitive business environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing is required.
Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
- Comprehensive understanding of Walmart and Sam’s Club omni business models, procedures, and operations.
- Elevated financial acumen- margin/forecast planning/budget management.
- Excellent strategic and disciplined business planning skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to think on your feet and contingency plan.
- Translate data into actionable insights and recommendations to drive sales growth.
- Experience with Retail Link and Scintilla Charter
- Sam’s Club Madrid experience a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
- Ability to travel.
Core Responsibilities:
Account Management & Development
- Build relationships with the Walmart team, including buyers, planners, and replenishment managers.
- Work with the buying team to understand needs, performance metrics, and timetables to build seasonal business plans.
- Act as the expert on products, categories, and competition within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Manage day-to-day service issues between MGA internal teams and Walmart buying teams.
Profitable Sales
- Create and present profitable sales plans for both the retailer and MGA.
- Develop and implement contingency plans in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Product Development to address account objectives and sell the business plan.
Fiscal Responsibilities
- Manage account opportunities with a check and balance for return on investment.
- Oversee all account promotional spending within pre-approved budgets.
Forecasting
- Review weekly POS to identify items selling at, above, or below plans and action opportunities.
- Build forecasts based on facts, actual sales, and historical data by working closely with MGA demand planning teams.
