Job Description

We're looking for a Director of Solutions Architecture to build and lead the team of Solutions Architects supporting our Enterprise and Strategic accounts across AMER. You'll own the technical strategy and execution for our most complex, highest-value sales motions, working in close partnership with Sales, Product, and Engineering leadership. This is both a player-coach and a builder role: you'll hire, develop, and manage a high-performing team, personally engage on the most strategic deals, and shape how ClickHouse wins technically in the enterprise.

What You'll Do

  • Build, lead, and scale the Enterprise & Strategic Solutions Architecture team across AMER, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.

  • Own the technical win strategy for Enterprise and Strategic opportunities, personally engaging on the highest-stakes evaluations and executive relationships alongside your team.

  • Partner with Sales leadership to build territory and account plans, set technical engagement standards, and ensure SAs are deployed against the highest-impact opportunities.

  • Define and evolve the team's methodology for technical discovery, proof of concept execution, architecture design, and competitive positioning.

  • Represent the field in cross-functional planning with Product and Engineering, translating patterns from enterprise deals into structured input on roadmap, packaging, and pricing.

  • Build scalable enablement: playbooks, reference architectures, demo environments, and competitive battle cards that raise the bar for the entire team.

  • Develop and report on team metrics (pipeline influence, win rates, POC outcomes, time-to-value) and communicate results to sales and company leadership.

  • Serve as an executive-level technical sponsor for top strategic accounts, building trusted relationships with customer VP/C-level stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Solutions Architecture leaders in other regions to align on global standards, career frameworks, and knowledge sharing.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience leading or building a Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering, or technical pre-sales team supporting enterprise/strategic accounts at an infrastructure, database, or analytics company.

  • Hands-on background as a Solutions Architect or Sales Engineer, with deep credibility in technical, high-stakes sales cycles.

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, SQL/OLAP databases, and the modern data stack (streaming, orchestration, BI, cloud infrastructure).

  • Track record of building and scaling teams: hiring, developing talent, and instilling a strong technical and customer-first culture.

  • Proven ability to operate as an executive-level technical sponsor, comfortable presenting to and negotiating with C-level stakeholders at large enterprises.

  • Strong cross-functional collaborator, able to influence Sales, Product, and Engineering leadership without direct authority.

  • Data-driven approach to managing a team and a book of business, with comfort defining and tracking meaningful pipeline and technical-win metrics.

  • Willingness to travel across AMER for customer visits, team support, and company events.

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience deploying, administering, or architecting ClickHouse in production.

  • Experience with real-time analytics, observability, or large-scale event/log data use cases.

  • Experience scaling a field engineering function at an early-stage or hypergrowth startup.

  • Contributions to open-source data infrastructure projects.
