Dispatcher – / Crane & Rigging Operations
Bengal Crane & Rigging / Bengal Transportation Services is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to support daily field operations, crane and rigging projects, and upcoming jobsite needs.
This position works closely with Operations, Project Management, Permitting, Engineering, Safety, Billing, Maintenance, field employees, vendors, and customers to ensure labor, equipment, trucks, cranes, trailers, permits, schedules, and jobsite requirements are properly coordinated.
The Dispatcher plays a key role in keeping projects organized, safe, efficient, and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have dispatch, scheduling, logistics, fleet, construction, transportation, crane, heavy equipment, or project coordination experience and must be able to communicate clearly, prioritize quickly, and manage multiple moving pieces in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review awarded jobs, project details, customer requirements, lift/haul plans, permits, site requirements, and manpower needs to help develop daily execution plans.
- Coordinate daily schedules for crane operators, drivers, riggers, support personnel, trucks, trailers, cranes, equipment, and rented or vendor-supplied materials.
- Serve as a central point of contact between Operations, Project Managers, field employees, customers, Permitting, Engineering, Safety, Maintenance, Billing, and other internal departments.
- Assign and dispatch labor and equipment based on project needs, employee qualifications, equipment availability, jobsite requirements, and schedule priorities.
- Maintain communication with operators, drivers, crews, customers, and internal departments to support safe and timely job execution.
- Monitor labor and equipment schedules to ensure crews and equipment meet required pickup, delivery, mobilization, and jobsite start times.
- Help verify that the proper personnel, training, experience, certifications, orientations, equipment, paperwork, and job information are in place before work begins.
- Assist with coordinating employee site orientations, training, planning, and job-readiness requirements for current and upcoming projects.
- Track equipment needs, availability, maintenance concerns, service issues, and yard priorities; communicate equipment concerns to the appropriate manager or department.
- Support permitting and DOT-related coordination by helping ensure required permits, registrations, insurance cards, job documents, maps, route information, and equipment files are accurate and available.
- Help ensure required inspections, paperwork, equipment documentation, and job files are completed, updated, and maintained properly.
- Enter and update job, labor, equipment, dispatch, and schedule information in company systems.
- Review and maintain logs, records, dispatch updates, activity reports, time information, job tickets, and other project-related documentation.
- Communicate with customers to help confirm job details, schedule changes, project needs, and overall service expectations.
- Work with Billing and Operations to help verify labor, equipment, vendor, rental, and project-related costs are captured accurately.
- Support safe project execution by understanding jobsite requirements, customer expectations, company safety standards, and project-specific needs.
- Stay in constant communication with the operations team to support smooth job execution and help resolve scheduling, equipment, labor, or customer-related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations, field execution, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous dispatch, scheduling, logistics, transportation, construction, crane, heavy haul, fleet, or heavy equipment coordination experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with field employees, customers, managers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple jobs, employees, equipment needs, and schedule changes.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
- Comfortable using computers, phones, email, dispatch systems, spreadsheets, and company software.
- Ability to accurately enter, update, and maintain job, schedule, labor, equipment, and project information.
- Ability to read and understand job instructions, schedules, maps, permits, customer requirements, and internal communication.
- Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of dispatch, scheduling, logistics, fleet, construction, crane, heavy haul, transportation, or heavy equipment experience.
- Experience dispatching drivers, crane operators, riggers, equipment, trucks, trailers, or field crews.
- Knowledge of heavy haul, oversize/overweight loads, crane operations, rigging, DOT requirements, permits, route planning, or industrial jobsites.
- Experience working with Project Managers, Operations teams, Safety, Billing, Maintenance, vendors, and customers.
- Experience with ATOM, FCC, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, or similar dispatch/project management systems.
- Familiarity with South Louisiana industrial facilities, plant sites, routes, traffic conditions, travel restrictions, and customer jobsite requirements.

Work Environment
This role may require a mix of office, yard, and field coordination. The Dispatcher may interact with drivers, crane operators, riggers, mechanics, project managers, customers, vendors, and other support personnel.
The position may involve changing schedules, urgent customer needs, weather impacts, equipment issues, jobsite changes, permit requirements, and time-sensitive project demands. The employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions, moving equipment, and active yard or jobsite environments.
Physical Requirements
The employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, use a computer, talk, hear, reach, bend, climb, or access shop/yard areas as needed. The employee may occasionally need to lift or move items up to 50 pounds.
