NOTICE OF PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION

The Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Is responsible for safely operating all apparatus in the department. Duties include operating pumpers, quints, brush vehicles, and all other emergency vehicles in the department. The engineer is responsible for inputting all equipment checks into the department’s records management database. The engineer may act as a Lieutenant in their absence. The engineer will also assist the crew members to carry out all the services provided by the department. Additional duties may be assigned for the good order of the department.

Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses:

ELIGIBILE APPLICANTS:
Any member of the Cedar Park Fire Department who for at least two years immediately before the examination date has continuously held the position of Firefighter and before the exam date is certified is certified as a TCFP Driver Operator Certification and TCFP, Pro Board, or IFSAC Fire Instructor 1.

ELIGIBILITY LIST:
The Eligibility List established through this testing will be effective for twelve months from the date of the test or until exhausted, whichever comes first.

INTENT TO TEST QUESTIONNAIRE:
The "Notice of Intent to Test" Questionnaire for the Fire Driver/Engineer promotional examination must be completed online atvwww.cedarparktexas.gov on the Careers page. Click on the Menu tab, then Promotional Jobs.

RETURNING INTENT QUESTIONNAIRE:
Eligible candidates desiring to take this promotional examination shall register their intent to do so by completing a "Notice of Intent" questionnaire online at www.cedarparktexas.gov. Failure to do so will result in denial of admittance at the testing site.

DEADLINE:
Beginning: Tuesday, June 30 2026, at 9:00 am
Ending: Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 12:00 pm

Fire Driver/Engineer - July 9, 2026
 

I hereby declare that I am eligible to take the Cedar Park Fire Department examination for the position of Driver/Engineer.

I hereby notify the City of Cedar Park Human Resources Department that I intend to take the examination scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 9:00 am. I understand that the examination is to be given at City Hall, Fire Training Room - Building 6, 450 Cypress Creek Road, Cedar Park, Texas.  I also understand that admittance to the test area will begin at 1:30 pm and that no one will be admitted after 2:00 pm.  I understand that I will need to bring a valid driver's license or Department issued Identification as proof of identity at the time of sign-in or I will not be admitted to take the examination.

I hereby acknowledge that this Notice of Intent to Test form must be received by the City of Cedar Park Human Resources Department beginning Tuesday, June 30 2026, at 9:00 am and no later than Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 12:00 pm and that failure to do so will result in denial of my admittance at the testing site.
