Job Summary:

Southeastern Food Merchandisers is currently seeking a Dispatcher for the Transportation Department. This position is responsible for completing assigned daily tasks safely, professionally, and productively. The Dispatcher works as part of a team to plan, coordinate, and manage truck drivers in their day-to-day operations while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Set up and maintain an organized dispatch log, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information on schedules, assignments, and routes.

· Upload essential data and instructions to driver handheld devices prior to departure.

· Monitor driver departure times to ensure compliance with scheduled parameters.

· Monitor and manage Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.

· Coordinate and distribute necessary equipment and resources to drivers prior to departure.

· Conduct trailer checks to verify correct load assignments, temperature settings, and other pre-departure requirements.

· Adjust routes and schedules in response to traffic delays, emergencies, equipment issues, or customer changes.

· Track driver departure and arrival times throughout the shift and make real-time operational adjustments as needed.

· Answer incoming calls and provide timely support to drivers.

· Communicate effectively with warehouse, transportation, and management teams to ensure smooth operations.

· Maintain accurate documentation and records related to dispatch activities.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) laws and regulations.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· High degree of accuracy.

· Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to function well under pressure and meet deadlines.

· Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Experience in the trucking or transportation industry preferred.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Previous experience in transportation, dispatching, or trucking industry preferred.
