The Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS) division of Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking a dual certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to work in a mobile capacity, providing care and coverage across multiple sites throughout the state. The APRN will be certified in psychiatric and primary care to provide clinical direction, education, and coordination of interdisciplinary treatment to patients and clients within the program.  Services provided are for short-term acute psychiatric and primary care both in person and through telemedicine, as needed.
In this position, you will:

  • Provide direct advanced practice nursing care for primary care and psychiatric issues
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients/clients with mental illness and/or acute or chronic health issues
  • Conduct work in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers
  • Prescribe medications and monitor and manage for side effects
  • Serve on medical, nursing, and facility committees
  • Provide health education to patients and clients


As a mobile position, this role requires travel to sites across Minnesota to provide care and coverage, including Community Behavioral Health Hospitals (Fergus Falls, Alexandria, Baxter, Bemidji, Rochester, and Annandale), CARE sites (Carlton and Willmar), MSHS sites (Brainerd, Wadena, and Willmar), CABHH (Willmar), and AMRTC (Anoka).  Travel expenses are reimbursed according to established travel policies including mileage, lodging, and meals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minnesota licensure and current registration as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse
  • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota
  • Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota
  • Minnesota licensure and current registration as a registered nurse
  • Authorization from the Minnesota Board of Nursing to prescribe drugs and therapeutic device

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of demonstrated APRN work experience in each of psychiatry and primary care
  • Experience with inpatient psychiatric care
