Job Description

Responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks and assisting building maintenance technicians (of lesser skills) with the performance of building maintenance task in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, etc.). Combines knowledge of mechanical technology with electrical circuits for the installation, operation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electro/mechanical systems associated with facilities, support equipment, production equipment, and product systems. Involves working with engineers to develop electrical/mechanical systems in support of product development and production line work. Task will be performed with limited guidance of higher classified technicians.

Working Procedure: 

  • Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical and electrical activities associated with the maintenance/repair of equipment, materials and facilities
  • Aligns, fit, or assemble component parts to complete as system
  • Assemble and repair hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies
  • Operate metal working machines (Drill press, band saws, etc.)
  • Test Electro-mechanical assemblies for proper operation
  • Read manufacturing outlines for electronic products read schematics, read technical drawings
  • Understand technical operating, service or repair manuals
  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings — Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
  • Develop and train lower classified employees as required
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of formal technical training (via military or civilian technical schools) required.

Experience Requirement: 7+ years of electrical or mechanical experience required.
