POSITION TITLE:
Behavioral Specialist

This position works 7 hours per day 35 hours per week 187 day calender.
Salary starts at $42,257.00 per year with standard benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance. Salary will be based on experience and start date.
This position earns 10 sick days and 2 personal days per year based on a August 11, 2026 start date
POSITION SUMMARY: Professional instructional position that provides support to individual students and their families by coordinating and providing services in discrete trial trainings and applied behavior analyses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluate students for Applied Behavior Analysis programming and development of assessment report
- Assist in the development, facilitation, conduction and follow up of training applied behavior analysis
- Monitor student’s on-going progress
- Provide model teaching and other direct instructional supports
- Facilitate and assist in the development/identification of resources and support information
- Keep current with literature, new research finding and resources
- Provide consultation services and maintains ongoing communication with all constituents including Rockwood School District staff, parents, community contacts and agencies
- Perform other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentage
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and before groups
- Ability to stoop or kneel and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach while performing the duties and responsibilities of this job
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Regular attendance on the job is expected
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field is required
- Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified assistant Behavioral Analyst (BCaBA) is preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with children with Autism Spectrum or related disorders
- Knowledge of the principles and practices governing Special Education as it pertains to children with autism spectrum disorders
- Experience using behavioral and instructional strategies with students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders
