Job Description
- Develop, evaluate, and design enhancements to existing tools and equipment used in manufacturing by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication processes, assembly methods, tooling, materials, and production equipment capabilities.
- Analyze, develop, and implement processes to measure equipment reliability and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to ensure proper machine and work center uptime and manage preventative maintenance scheduling.
- Manage various Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, including planning, installation, monitoring, and control.
- Lead Manufacturing Engineering initiatives starting with 5S methodology — identify, develop, implement, and monitor improvements.
- Support and advance continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant using lean manufacturing principles.
- Utilize internal and external resources to address areas requiring specialized technical expertise.
- Develop and maintain standardized work processes.
- May be assigned a specific type of equipment, tooling, or operation to develop deep subject-matter expertise.
- Flexible to work various shifts as needed to accomplish project and operational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Related working experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong computer skills including MS Excel, PowerPoint, and 2D/3D CAD modeling software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate effectively with people at all levels.
- Commitment to standardization and process discipline.
- Well-organized with strong follow-up and project management skills.
- Previous experience in a lean manufacturing program is a plus.
