OVERVIEW:
The Fall 2026 Intern will be responsible for providing technical, design and programming services in support of municipal water/wastewater projects as part of a project team.
*This position will start in Fall 2026*
DURING YOUR WORKDAY, YOU WILL:
- Provides technical, design and programming services in support of municipal water and wastewater projects as part of a project team.
- Programming or design projects including researching other instruments or other equipment.
- Writing specifications and creating drawings in AutoCAD such as one-line diagrams, SCADA system architecture diagrams, panel drawings, instrumentation details, etc.
- Developing user graphics that depict the process of the controls system we design.
- Developing the related programmable logic controller for the water treatment process.
- Responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
- Student works directly under supervisor.
- Communicates and coordinates technical evaluations and designs, technical writing of reports and correspondence with Project Manager and design team to complete work efficiently.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science.
- Process-oriented individual with strong organization and technical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- AutoCAD experience preferred but not required.
- Solid communicator, able to take and understand directives from Senior Staff and coordinate efforts with design team.
- Strong writing and verbal skills.
- Able to complete work consistently with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands put on them by Senior Staff.
- Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
- Registration into the school's cooperative education program
