Job Title: Enhanced TASC Peer Support Specialist
Location: Cumberland County
Hours: 40 hours/week, Full Time, M-F, Non-Exempt

Coastal Horizons Center is seeking a dedicated and qualified Enhanced TASC Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to support justice-involved individuals with primary mental health diagnoses, including serious mental illness (SMI), through the Enhanced TASC (Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities) program. This position operates as part of North Carolina�s Enhanced TASC model, implemented in alignment with DMHDDSUS guidance to standardize TASC services for individuals with primary mental health diagnoses and improve service outcomes. The ideal candidate will utilize lived experience and recovery principles to support individuals in navigating behavioral health systems, community supervision requirements, treatment engagement, and community stability.

We have this specific opportunity located in:

Cumberland County (Fayetteville, NC)

Primary duties include providing peer support and mentoring services to justice-involved individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders; assisting clients in engaging in behavioral health treatment and community resources; accompanying clients to appointments as appropriate; and supporting individuals in overcoming barriers related to housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social determinants of health.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent or higher.

Certification Requirements: Must have completed the North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification Program.

Experience: Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders and at least two years of recovery required. Preference will be given to individuals with experience working with justice-involved individuals and individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), co-occurring disorders, trauma histories, and/or complex behavioral health needs.

Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid driver�s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of wellness, recovery, and peer support principles.
  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain supportive relationships with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and remote collaboration tools (i.e., Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with justice systems, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to accurately document services and maintain compliance with program standards and timelines.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the service area as required.

Salary: Salary Range for this position is commensurate with experience and includes medical/dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement savings plan/401K, and paid time off programs.
