Job Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Manufacturing Associate to join the Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. The Entry Level Manufacturing Associate performs fabrication and assembly operations to produce products of all kinds, including complex operations. 

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities/Activities: 
1. Fabrication and assembly activities include, but are not limited to, pressing, tapping, welding, sealing, labeling, 
stamping, counting, loading and unloading products and cartons and pallets.  In addition, cutting to length and 
fabricating wires and assembling power/data devices into products including terminating connections and 
testing of assemblies or finished products. Taking direction from appropriate Group Leader or supervision. 
2. Potentially packs, seals, and labels all raceway products utilizing tools and equipment as needed.  Makes 
minor adjustments on assembling and packaging machines and small hand tools to maintain quality. Taking 
direction from appropriate Group Leader or supervision. 
3. Uses a variety of hand tools, air screw drivers, tapping machines, automatic and semi-automatic machinery.  
4. Records, maintains, and reports on materials handled, packed, stored, or transported using applicable 
company systems. 
5. Places completed work in designated location, potentially using basic material handling equipment. 
6. Loads and unloads work in process to machines required in their rotation, including restarts and resets as 
needed. 
7. Maintains equipment and materials in good repair and maintains an orderly work area consistent with 5C 
practices and the Wiremold Production system. 
8. Performs Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) schedules and assignments as required for the tools, 
equipment and small machines used in the performance of this function. 
9. Complies with all OSHA safety and Company safety procedures and works in a safe manner to insure both 
personal safety and safety to others. 
10. Performs all assignments with attention to quality standards of workmanship. 
11. Records quality and productivity information as necessary.

12. May work alone with periodic supervision or may work with a group depending on the products being 
assembled or the tools and equipment being operated. 
13. Performs other work as directed by Group Leader or supervisor. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 
1. Must be authorized to work in the United States 
2. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. High school education or equivalent. 
3. Six (6) months prior experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment, ideally involving wiring and 
assembly. Other consideration may be given for prior experience with corporations who highly utilize 
continuous improvement activities. 
4. Must be able to use basic hand tools and measuring instruments. 
5. Must demonstrate an ability to perform standard work processes. 
6. Must be able to perform all work assignments within the classification in a rotation within the work 
cell/department, in a productive and efficient way, producing work of good quality. 
7. Must be willing to cross train on all rotation assignments in the work cell/department. 
 

Essential Mental Functions:  
1. Must be able to work from the paperwork, including but not limited to blueprint or standard work sheets, when 
the work assignment requires. 
2. Must be able to solve mathematical equations. 
3. Must have good organizing and prioritization skills 

Physical Requirements:
Requires standing and walking; frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions; lifting up to 40 pounds; clear verbal communication; close visual inspection; and working in a manufacturing environment with machinery and potential hazards.
