The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Equipment Operator to join our team. The Equipment Operator is responsible for performing routine equipment checks and maintenance, loading and unloading equipment, and ensuring sites are kept clean and equipment is safely turned off and stored. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of equipment operation, safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately. This is an opportunity for a long-term position and to join a growing company.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
- Cleaning and performing regular safety checks on equipment.
- Training new crew members in the safe operation of equipment
- Performing other construction duties as needed
- Ensuring sites are kept clean and safe.
- Attending meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible and equipment operation.
- Identify faults and troubleshooting equipment as required.
Operator Requirements-
- Proficient with backhoe, mini excavator, and skid steer.
- Able to load dump trucks and take the soils to landfills for disposal.
- Able to load trucks and assist trucks into jobsites.
- CDL class A with no restrictions.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Able to assist foreman with jobsite tasks.
- Work in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk and work on uneven terrain, including pea gravel and excavations
- Must be able to climb in and out of equipment safely
- Must be able to pull and break pipes loose
- Must be able to wear and properly utilize fall protection equipment
- Must be able to enter confined spaces to perform tasks (when trained and authorized)
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical
- Must be able to work outdoors in hot and cold environments
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and medical evaluation when required
- Must be able to drive for extended periods of time safely and maintain focus while operating a vehicle
