Job Summary:
As an Estimator with Bosch Building Technologies, your main responsibility will be to maximize the award of profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration activities. You will work closely with the Sales, Design, and Project Management team to ensure that our customers are provided with the highest quality service.
Ideal candidates will represent Bosch in a professional manner that aligns with our values of leadership mindset, people development, team, and client focused. A typical day could see you responding to an RFP, meeting with sales team members, working with service and project teams during installation, or working with clients to identify scope requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost budgets based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant materials
- Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and PMO to develop cost estimates for labor and logistics and detailed BOM
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Compute and communicate costs through analysis of labor, material, and time requirements
- Engage subcontractors to augment Bosch's areas of expertise to provide a complete solution
- Obtain best product prices from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors
- Maintaining technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing networks
- Coordinating bid proposal development with all relevant stakeholders
- Communicate project status regularly with estimation manager, account manager, and other stakeholders
- Other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of design and estimation experience in information technology and security systems
- A minimum of 5 years of technical field experience or project management of low voltage system installation
- Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Mac OS, and project / quoting software
- An understanding of and experience with fundamental concepts pertaining to IP security systems, low voltage electronics, power, and communications.
- Ability to create and edit design drawings, spread sheets, program sheets and projects handover documentation.
- A strong command of the English language supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects and be responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Motivated self-starter with ambition to independently research new technologies as well as engineering and business methodologies/concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous and progressive experience as an estimator in the low voltage/security system industry with demonstrated success completing complicated and complex estimates and designs
- Experience working with some or all the following systems is preferred:
- Access Control - LenelS2, Software House, Avigilon, Kantech, Genetec, AMAG, RBH
- CCTV -- Milestone, Avigilon, Genetec,
- Intrusion -- Bosch, DSC, DMP, Senstar, Southwest Microwave,
- Network Switching -- Cisco, Ruckus, HPE
- RTLS -- Actall, Guard RFID
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) -- Schneider, Omron
- Door Hardware - any- considered assets
- Audio Visual -- Crestron, Extron, Neat, etc.
- Experience in a technical sales role or system design would be considered an asset
- Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical, or equivalent would be considered an asset
- Excellent organization and attention to detail

Additional Information:
- Working Hours: This position generally works Monday- Friday, overtime and on call when necessary
- Pay Rate: $79,000 - $93,000 (DOE)
