Events & Venue - Maintenance Technician

The Tulsa City-County Library Maintenance Technician performs various duties for the physical maintenance and upkeep of Central and branch library facilities. The Maintenance Technician will specialize in coordinating events set-up, storage and overall care of select venue locations.
This is a safety sensitive position
Some additional responsibilities include:
- Perform event set-up activities ensuring that the assigned materials (tables, chairs, equipment, etc.) arrive timely and are set according to event instructions.
- Perform event associated duties as assigned before, during, and after any special events including returning and storing stage equipment, chairs, tables and audio-visual equipment.
- Remove event inventory and other materials from area after event, restoring utilized area to its normal arrangement and condition.
- Canvas the venue regularly, checking on the AC/heat, lights, building, etc. and resolve general issues that may arise.
- Check restrooms for cleanliness and tidiness, and make sure toilet paper, paper towels, tissue, and soap dispensers stay stocked all night.
- Clean affected areas of the venue in a safe, effective manner when major spills occur and throughout the event.
- Pick up trash from throughout the property and discard, as well as transfer full trash bags to the on-site dumpster.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and compliance documentation
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers when necessary
- Maintains library facilities, including HVAC, roofing, plumbing, sheet-rocking, minor electrical, and concrete work as directed.
- Performs janitorial duties including sweeping, cleaning, and washing windows, including cleaning carpet and upholstery.
- Provide support for events at various branch locations to include, but is not limited to, set up of furniture, facilities and other equipment as directed by the event coordinator and Facilities Manager.
- Perform the following Safety Sensitive functions:
- Operation of company owned vehicles, forklift, heavy equipment, machinery, and power tools;
- Extracts, compresses, handles and/or transports potentially volatile, flammable, or combustible components;
- Repairs, maintains and monitors the performance of equipment and machinery
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to work a very flexible and often variable schedule (including weekends and evenings) is required: start time may be as early at 7:00 a.m., or end time may be as late as midnight;
- Ability to read and understand instructional materials pertaining to event functions.
- Ability to operate and use cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaners, mops, and brooms.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-up;
- Superior communication and teamwork skills; able to take direction from multiple stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Salary: $21.10 / hr.
Status: Full Time

Schedule :
Flexible schedule, must work evenings and weekends regular to set up, tear down and organizing event spaces

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Physical Activity: Must be able to stand or walk 90% of the time, lift up to 75 lbs., and carry 35 lbs., with or without the aid of dollies.
Work Environment: Work involves risks of discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; may require working in adverse weather conditions. Work environment involves routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The job may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. May be required to work outdoors as necessary.
Travel: Regular travel between library locations.
