Facilities Administrative Assistant



Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | 7:00am - 3:30pm

As a Facilities Administrative Assistant at UNC Health Appalachian, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to Facilities leadership and departments. This role plays an important part in maintaining efficient communication, organization, and coordination across teams while supporting a mission-driven healthcare organization focused on service excellence and patient care.




  • Compensation: Starting pay begins at $17.29 /hour, based on experience, education, and internal equity

What You’ll Do as a Facilities Administrative Assistant




  • Provide clerical and administrative support to Facilities leaders and departments

  • Answer phones, greet visitors, screen calls, and assist internal and external customers professionally

  • Coordinate schedules, calendars, meetings, and event logistics

  • Record messages, maintain records, and assist with meeting minutes and documentation

  • Schedule rooms and support departmental communication and workflow organization

  • Assist with administrative coordination during emergencies or operational needs

  • Promote a professional, organized, and customer-focused environment





Qualifications




  • High school diploma or GED required



Experience:




  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar administrative support role

  • Experience demonstrating critical thinking, discretion, and organizational skills preferred

  • Basic knowledge of CMS, Joint Commission, and DHSR regulations preferred



Licenses/Certifications:




  • None required



Skills & Abilities:




  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Proficiency in typing, computer systems, and word processing

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Professional demeanor and personable approach with staff and visitors

  • Ability to work independently while supporting team operations





Physical & Work Environment




  • Prolonged sitting with intermittent standing and walking throughout shifts

  • Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition with moderate dexterity

  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs

  • Frequent close visual work and communication tasks

  • Exposure to healthcare environment hazards including equipment and uneven surfaces

  • Occasional irregular hours, evenings, weekends, holidays, or emergency support situations
