Compensation: This position starts between $16.50-$17.50/hour

Job Title:
Facilities Caretaker
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Status:
Non-Exempt, Part-time (0.7 FTE, 28 hours per week)

In-person at assigned UEC Branch, Riverside Park
Position Summary: As the Facilities Caretaker you support the mission of the Urban Ecology Center by ensuring the Riverside Park branch is well-maintained, hospitable, and cared for with the use of green, sustainable cleaning practices. You are responsible for the routine custodial needs of the facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
FACILITIES
- Performs daily cleaning of the public areas, bathrooms, classrooms, office spaces, and other areas of the building as directed.
- Performs ongoing facilities upkeep tasks, keeping a weekly, monthly, quarterly schedule of areas to be addressed and maintained.
- Ensures the cleaning schedule corresponds to building use, and works with the Event & Rentals Manager to ensure spaces are ready for use in a timely manner.
GROUNDS
- Ensures grounds are maintained as directed. Tasks may include but are not limited to: windows, sidewalks, trash pickup, emptying waste containers, removing graffiti, assisting facilities maintenance staff.
- Assists with snow removal as needed.
VEHICLES
- Weekly bus cleaning, including sweeping, seat sanitizing, trash removal, and other related duties.
TEAM AND SUPERVISION
- In this role, you will be managed by the Facilities Manager.
- Though all of our teams work together in some capacity, you will most frequently collaborate with Managers at the branch and Facility Rentals team members.
- All UEC team members should expect interaction with volunteers, members, and youth participants.

Experience, Education, and Certifications
- A high school diploma, GED and/or equivalent job experience is required.
- Experience in custodial duties is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS, LOCATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Condition & Location: Open office workspace with an active team atmosphere. Using shared workspaces at all three UEC locations. Up to 10% of the work time will be spent outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year.
- Physical Requirements: You have the ability to bend, crawl, kneel, stoop, stand, lift, and move materials of significant weight for 75% or more of your work hours, with or without accommodation.
- Equipment Used: Computer equipment, Google software, power tools.
