BAE Systems is seeking a Facilities Project Manager: Workplace & Occupancy Planning to lead and/or support the strategic design and spatial optimization of our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business portfolio of sites. This role is the bridge between operational requirements and physical execution, focusing on how our people, processes, and equipment interact within our facility.
You will be responsible for the architectural integrity and occupancy strategy of the site, ensuring that our workspaces from production floors to corporate offices are designed for maximum efficiency, safety, and scalability. In alignment with BAE Systems’ priorities of Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost, you will transform complex business needs into functional, high-performing physical environments.

Occupancy Planning & Workplace Strategy

You will be responsible for the architectural integrity and occupancy strategy of the site, ensuring that our workspaces from production floors to corporate offices are designed for maximum efficiency, safety, and scalability. In alignment with BAE Systems’ priorities of Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost, you will transform complex business needs into functional, high-performing physical environments.
Key Responsibilities
Occupancy Planning & Workplace Strategy
- Strategic Space Management: Lead and/or support all occupancy planning initiatives, utilizing TRIRIGA and other spatial analysis tools to allocate, track, and optimize facility space and physical assets.
- Architectural Design: Translate operational requirements into detailed architectural layouts, ensuring efficient workflow, ergonomics, and adherence to BAE Systems workplace standards.
- Capacity Modeling: Conduct comprehensive assessments of current space utilization and develop long-term planning models to enable future business growth and facility scalability.
- Interior Design & FF&E: Direct the selection and placement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to create professional, functional, and compliant workspaces.
- Design-to-Execution: Lead and/or support the full lifecycle of renovation and new-build projects, overseeing the transition from conceptual blueprints to final occupancy.
- Technical Integration: Coordinate the integration of structural, mechanical, and electrical requirements within the architectural plan to ensure seamless execution.
- Vendor & Consultant Oversight: Develop detailed Statements of Work (SOW), manage external architectural firms and subcontractors, and ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect work quality against design specifications and approve vendor payments based on milestone achievement.
- Compliant Design: Ensure all space planning and architectural modifications adhere to SHE procedures, local building codes, and site security requirements.
- Hazard Mitigation: Apply a rigorous safety mindset to all designs, prioritizing safe egress, PPE requirements, and operational discipline over convenience.
- Capital Planning: Assist in the development of the annual Facilities budget, specifically focusing on capital improvements and architectural upgrades.
- Fiscal Oversight: Ensure all design and construction expenses are accurately assigned to the correct Cost Centers and Accounts.
- Documentation: Review and authorize bids, project authorizations, and technical documentation packages.

Required Skills and Education

Preferred Skills and Education
- Technical Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD and TRIRIGA (or similar Integrated Workplace Management Systems).
- Industry: Experience within defense manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environments.
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in Architecture or a related discipline with at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
