Position Summary:

Neeltran Inc. is seeking a dependable and hands-on Facilities Technician to support the daily operation and upkeep of our manufacturing facility in New Milford, CT. This position is ideal for someone mechanically inclined who enjoys working with their hands, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and assisting with general maintenance and manufacturing-related tasks as needed.

The Facilities Technician will perform facility maintenance, machine setups, janitorial, material-handling duties, and provide flexible support to manufacturing operations as required.


 

Responsibilities: 

Facilities & Janitorial Support

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, including production areas, storage areas, and common spaces
  • Remove and dispose of cardboard, scrap wood, and other waste materials
  • Monitor, maintain, and arrange service for dumpsters and recycling containers
  • Perform routine cleaning and upkeep tasks to support a safe working environment
  • Responsiuble for ordering required equipment, tools, machinery and supplies
  • Maintain all maintenance records, receipts and contact information
  • Able to perform minor electrical repairs (i.e., replace recepticales, light switches, fuses, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining alarm system 

Maintenance & Mechanical Support

  • Lead service repairs of facility, machinery, and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and processes
  • Through expertise and outside help, lead and direct others in repair, setup, modifications and/or addition of any other machinery
  • Perform general facility maintenance tasks such as repairs, equipment setup, and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain and service all maintenance equipment, tools and machinery
  • Use basic hand and power tools—“turning a wrench” type work

Manufacturing Support

  • Provide assistance to manufacturing personnel as needed during busy periods or special projects
  • Support the team for changing over and/or setting up the complex manufacturing equipment
  • Support material movement, staging, or light production-related tasks
  • Support continuous improvement and general shop needs as assigned

Safety & General Duties

  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Report maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly
  • Be an active change agent within the safety committee – lead the team on implementation of safety improvemenets
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support facility and operations needs


 

Education - Experience:

  • 2+ years of prior facilities, maintenance, or shop experience
  • Strong background in industrial electrical
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine maintenance
  • Ability to perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating, cooling, installations, repairs
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude

 

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:


Essential Functions:

  • Reliable to schedule 5 days a week plus OT as required
  • Ability to be a supportive team member 
  • Ability to stand, stoop and or kneel for extended periods of time
  • Ability to drive forklift and operate crane once trained
  • Ability to use aerial lift once trained
  • Ability to climb ladders and maneuver through tight area. 
  • Ability to move large items such as furniture and equipment frequently
  • Desire to utilize PPE, harness/fall arrest system, and other safety devices as provided and required.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs on a regular basis and stand/walk 95% of the day
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime to meet business needs
