Frankfort KY 40601 USA

Description

Would you like to work with a staff who are dedicated to conserving the Commonwealth’s fish and wildlife
resources? Do you want to be part of an agency that provides opportunities for everyone to enjoy the outdoors
by fishing, hunting, boating, recreational shooting, wildlife watching, or related activities? Join us in the
exciting, innovative, and rewarding environment at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources
(KDFWR).

We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual to fill the role of facility maintenance worker,
performing general maintenance and janitorial duties in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, walking paths,
hiking trails, exhibits, public use areas, and associated equipment at the Salato Wildlife Education Center.
The regular work schedule will primarily be Tuesday through Saturday.

Located on the headquarters campus of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, the Salato

native wildlife, conservation efforts, and hunting and fishing opportunities. With more than 40 native animal
species, including a black bear, bald eagle, bison, bobcats, deer, and elk, the Salato Center combines outdoor
animal encounters with engaging indoor exhibits. This family-friendly attraction offers visitors the
opportunity to experience Kentucky’s regional ecosystems and the diverse fish, plants, and wildlife of the
Commonwealth. Visitors enjoy daily educational programs, live-animal training demonstrations, feedings, and
up-close encounters with birds of prey while exploring surrounding natural habitats such as a dragonfly marsh
and a pollinator garden. Indoor exhibits feature both venomous and non-venomous snakes, frogs, turtles, and
fish, including species such as alligator gar and the Hellbender salamander that are in decline and in need of
conservation.

This is an interim position. An interim position means a position is established to address a one-time or
recurring need of less than (9) months duration and exempt from the classified service under KRS 18A.115. Our
