Position Summary:
Arthur Center is looking for a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Primary Care team and provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across central Missouri. In this role, you will serve as an integral member of our integrated health home team, examining and treating patients, collaborating closely with physicians and behavioral health clinicians, and helping coordinate care across medical, behavioral, vision, and dental services to ensure every patient receives truly whole-person care. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Patient Care
- Examine and treat patients presenting with a wide range of primary care needs, ensuring proper diagnosis, treatment, and recovery in accordance with evidence-based practices and Arthur Center clinical policies.
- Provide emergency medical evaluation and crisis intervention as needed.
- Provide medical screenings upon patient entry into the program.
- Provide health education and disease management consultation for persons participating in the Primary Care Health Home Program.
- Assist clients in accessing resources including patient assistance programs, specialty care, and social services.
Collaborative Care & Coordination
- Work in formal collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure exemplary patient care.
- Help provide whole-person care coordination across medical, behavioral, vision, and dental services.
- Participate in clinical staff meetings and organizational teams and committees to contribute clinical input.
- Work within scope of practice and refer to other clinicians when indicated.
Orders, Documentation & Compliance
- Order appropriate laboratory tests related to medications or potential medication side effects.
- Document all services delivered accurately and in a manner that meets Arthur Center, state, and federal requirements.
- Complete vital signs documentation as required.
Skills and Attributes:
- Superior clinical assessment skills and the ability to establish strong, trust-based relationships with patients.
- Comprehensive knowledge of primary care practice and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Highly collaborative: comfortable working alongside physicians, behavioral health clinicians, nursing staff, and support staff in an integrated care model.
- Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills with a high standard for accuracy.
- Comfortable working within scope of practice and making appropriate referrals when indicated.
- Able to manage varying levels of clinical demand and stress with professionalism and composure.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing required; DNP or Ph.D. preferred.
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Active Missouri APRN licensure required.
Physical Requirements:
- Works in a standard medical office setting.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend to provide patient care and operate medical equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and provide physical support to patients with mobility needs.
- Must be able to use a computer and standard office equipment, and communicate effectively both in person and by telephone.
