Job Description:
As a Feed Mill Technician, you’ll help ensure the safe and efficient production of high-quality livestock feed by:
- Operating computerized feed mill automation systems to manufacture feed according to established formulations and production schedules.
- Monitoring batching, grinding, pelleting, fat application, mixing, and ingredient routing processes to ensure efficient production.
- Operating feed mill equipment manually and through computerized automation systems while following all company procedures.
- Accurately entering production data into computerized operating systems.
- Monitoring ingredient inventories, finished feed inventories, and production levels throughout each shift.
- Ensuring micro-bins are properly stocked and filled according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collecting feed samples and performing quality assurance testing in accordance with the Quality Assurance Manual and company SOPs.
- Maintaining accurate production records, inventory reports, testing documentation, and daily operational logs.
- Inspecting equipment throughout production and communicating maintenance concerns promptly.
- Assisting with preventative maintenance and helping troubleshoot production issues.
- Maintaining clean, organized work areas while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Performing general labor and material handling duties as needed.
- Operating forklifts and other equipment safely, when required.
- Working closely with supervisors, maintenance personnel, nutritionists, and fellow team members to achieve production goals.
- Following all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, food safety requirements, and biosecurity procedures.
- Leading by example through safe work practices while supporting the company’s commitment to zero lost-time incidents.
- Attending all required safety meetings, operational meetings, and training sessions.
- Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Additional:
No two days are exactly alike. Throughout your shift, you’ll monitor computerized production systems, inspect equipment, verify ingredient accuracy, collect quality assurance samples, perform production testing, maintain inventory levels, complete documentation, and help ensure every batch of feed meets strict nutritional and quality standards.
You’ll spend your day working with modern equipment, automation technology, and manufacturing processes that directly support animal health and food production.

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Previous experience in warehouse, manufacturing, production, industrial, agricultural, logistics, or distribution environments preferred, but not required
- Forklift experience preferred, but not required — training will be provided
- Experience working with computerized operating systems, automation, manufacturing equipment, or production software preferred, but not required — training will be provided
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and processes
- Basic computer and math skills
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures
- Strong attendance, reliability, and communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 80 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and reach
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Work in varying temperatures
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
