Field Application Scientist
Due to Commercial growth, Spear Bio is expanding its Field Application Support Team. We are looking for technically strong Field Application Scientists or Technical Salespeople. These individuals should have extraordinary communication, presentation, and technical troubleshooting skills, and a strong network within RUO, pharma, and academic areas.
In this dynamic, technical, and customer-facing role, you will deliver customer training, workflow demonstrations, customer sample testing in the lab, applications development, and technical support of our range of immunoassay solutions.
The Field Application Scientist will develop strong technical expertise in Spear Bio's ultrasensitive immunoassay platform in order to expertly navigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues for customers. This role involves ~30-40% travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. (primarily East Coast), and is expected to spend time working with assays in the lab in Woburn, MA when not traveling.
Responsibilities:
Support and train external customers, internal scientists within Spear Bio, and partner organizations on SPEAR UltraDetect™ immunoassay technology and workflow.
Drive successful adoption of the SPEAR platform by providing technical expertise for key customers through on-site product demos, training, collaborative projects, and support via e-mail/phone.
Perform client sample testing for platform evaluations, generate data, and present performance results to clients.
Work cross-functionally to develop new applications for current products, and generate data and technical collateral including application notes and conference presentations.
Improve workflow processes when troubleshooting customer immunoassay challenges. Triage issues, develop hypotheses, perform experiments and investigations, and identify solutions to ensure optimal product performance.
Track and address customer successes, inquiries, and complaints, to provide feedback for continuous improvement of products and technical support.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitive landscape and key product applications.
Work with Product Management team to provide voice-of-customer feedback for product improvements and strategies that will drive adoption of Spear Bio products.
Requirements:
PhD or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Bioengineering
2+ years of hands-on lab and troubleshooting experience with immunoassays and instrumentation for biomarker analysis. Scientists developing 'omics' diagnostic assays also considered. Strong record of first-author publications.
2+ years in-person customer pre and post-sales, demos, training, complex troubleshooting, as highly technical Field Application Scientist. Strong network within RUO, pharma, and academic areas.
Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to independently implement new technologies and troubleshoot instrument or assay performance issues.
Experience with qPCR and liquid handling machines
Knowledge of neurodegenerative disease research with existing network in drug development, academic, or contract research world preferred
Ability to travel up to 40% (including overnights), with occasional international travel
