About the Role

General Responsibility:
1. Proficient to perform field service for major tobacco with a working knowledge of all equipment.
2. Start-up of machines in customer plants.
3. Training of customer personnel to properly operate and maintain machines.
4. Assistance to customers when there is a breakdown.
5. Performance of contracted or periodic maintenance of machines.
6. Attainment of a working knowledge of all assigned equipment in the field.
7. Customer check-out demonstrations at G.D USA prior to machine shipments.


Principal Responsibilities:
1. Services machines in customer plants and provides service information by telephone.
2. Assists customer in ordering replacement parts and sees that they are ordered properly.
3. Trains customer personnel to properly operate and maintain equipment.
4. Submits service reports, expense reports, daily time sheets, etc.
5. Keeps in contact with customers to maintain their confidence in equipment and service.
6. Assists customers calling on phone for technical help.
7. Makes arrangements for travel requirements. Extensive travel required.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by Service Manager or as circumstances require, such as:
a. Helping train new service personnel.
b. Recommending equipment changes to engineering.
c. Representing the customer service and engineering departments in the field.
d. Assisting engineering with start-up operation and modification of experimental machines.
9. Assists Parts Department in determining part numbers where part numbers are unknown to the customer.
10. Provides written reports upon installation of new equipment.
11. Reports customer accidents to G.D USA and informs customer management of any unsafe procedures while in their plant.
12. Conducts classroom customer training sessions both at G.D USA and at customer locations.
13. Performs international service duties as assigned.

What You Need to Be Successful

2-5 years of technical training in mechanical and electrical technology, or equivalent experience.

A working knowledge of packaging equipment electrical and mechanical devices, and the control systems used for the equipment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
