Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst for the Financial Data Analytics and Reporting office within University Finance and Administration (UFA). This position supports and delivers operational financial reporting solutions for UFA, and contributes to a university‑wide reporting footprint supporting more than 2,000 Oracle ERP users and over 2,000 Tableau users who rely on UFA reporting for financial operations, budgeting, planning, and compliance.
This role develops, maintains, and troubleshoots financial reports and dashboards using the Oracle suite of reporting tools (BI Publisher, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Smart View (using Excel Plug-in), and Oracle SQL) and Tableau. The Financial Reporting Analyst is also responsible for extracting, validating, and analyzing financial data, resolving routine reporting-related help desk inquiries, and ensuring timely responses to operational users.
The Financial Reporting Analyst manages assigned reporting requests and deliverables, tracks issues in Jira or ServiceNow, performs routine testing for Oracle system updates, and ensures documentation is up to date. The role will collaborate with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and end users to clarify requirements and provide reliable reporting solutions that support day-to-day financial operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Collaborates with stakeholders to clarify reporting needs and document functional requirements.
- Translates reporting requirements into clear technical specifications in collaboration with OIT and end-users.
- Develops and maintaisn ERP reports using Oracle ERP reporting tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, OAC, Smart View, or FRS; supports Tableau-based operational reports as required.
- Conducts data validation, reconciliation, and testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of report outputs.
- Performs testing of reports during Oracle quarterly updates to ensure continued functionality.
- Applies a strong working knowledge of data flow within the Oracle ERP systems and integration across modules (e.g., General Ledger, Projects (PPM), Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management)
- Manages assigned reporting requests and support prioritization through Jira/ServiceNow to ensure timely resolution.
- Troubleshoots reporting errors, data issues, and access problems; escalates technical issues when appropriate.
- Responds to help desk inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and constructive support.
- Maintains report definitions, technical documentation, folder structures, and security settings within Oracle and Tableau environments.
- Supports end-user training and develop user-facing documentation and job aids to enable effective use of financial reports and reporting tools.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines must demonstrate relevant professional experience in financial reporting, ERP systems, or data analytics to meet the role’s functional requirements.
- A minimum of five years of experience developing financial or operational reports in a complex organizational environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Hands-on experience with Oracle suite of reporting tools (BI Publisher, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Smart View (using Excel Plug-in), and Oracle SQL).
- Proficiency with Oracle BI Developer (BI Publisher Template Builder) for designing and editing report templates.
- Proficiency in SQL (Oracle SQL preferred).
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Tableau-based operational reports; candidates without direct experience must demonstrate the ability to quickly develop proficiency and support Tableau reporting aligned with ERP-based financial reporting needs.
- Understanding of financial processes and reporting, including:
- General ledger structures.
- Chart of accounts design.
- Sub-ledger integrations (AP, AR, PPM, Assets, Cash Management).
- Allocations, consolidations, and financial close processes.
- Experience with report testing, documentation, data validation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education or public sector institutions.
- Experience developing and maintaining Tableau reports.
- Experience integrating or validating data across multiple ERP modules or systems.
- Experience using Oracle Cloud Financials (ERP and HCM) modules, e.g., Project Portfolio.
- Management (PPM), Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management.
Equipment Utilized
- Oracle ERP, MS Office, including Excel, and Tableau.
Special Conditions
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to approval and operational needs.
- A regular on-site presence of at least three (3) days per week is required, with additional on-site days as needed.
- Employees approved for a hybrid work arrangement must reside in NJ, NY, PA or DE and be within a commutable distance of the university.
