This is a non-union position. Complete 2026 pay scale is $29.95/hr-$39.18/hr. Hiring range is $29.95/hr-$31.63/hr.

Position Duties
1. Performs accounting functions including accounts receivable, balancing, and financial reportingfor assigned department, providing oversight for accounts payable and inventory, in accordance with county and state rules, statutes, and professional standards.
2. Assists with daily balancing of county funds, including, but not limited to, balancing county receipts to reports, posting daily cash receipts, creating daily bank deposits, monitoring bank balances, and maintaining a variety of financial worksheets.
3. Assists with accounts payable functions for the county including, but not limited to, reviewing invoices/claims to be paid for accuracy and adherence to policy and procedures; entering claims into the financial system; processing payments, issuing checks as approved by the County Board, District Court Judges, or by County policy, and preparing warrant reports for submission to the board.
4. Performs maintenance and processing of 1099’s; provides for the timely filing of other local, state, and federal financial and grant reports as required.
5. Assists with the annual audit process, including review and development of related financial statements, publication, state reporting and related aspects of the audit and indirect cost plan development.
6. Ensures accounting processes meet standard audit requirements are in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), County policy, State Statutes, and Federal law. Assists with the implementation of auditor recommendations and countywide financial policies. Monitors compliance with policies, reports any issues, and makes recommendations on the same.
7. Maintains compliance and oversight for fund balances, grants, and special fund tracking.
8. Assists with coordinating the county-wide fixed assets inventory control system. Assists with the development and implementation of related policies, procedures, and record-keeping.
9. Projects future revenues and expenditures based on historical data, State projections, and trends; analyzes, identifies, and implements solutions to resolve accounting problems. Provides informed input into the Department budget; monitors spending and cash flow; prepares monthly and yearto-date revenue and expenditure reports to management
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in accounting or business and four years of experience in general accounting and/or payroll; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must successfully complete a criminal history background check.
- A valid Class D driver’s license is required.
Other Qualifications
Candidates will be selected based on a review of training and experience. Top candidates will be selected to participate in oral interviews.

Employees may choose to contribute additional funds to their HSA each year, up to the IRS limit of $4,400 for singles, and $8,750 for families. Once at age 55, employees can contribute an additional $1,000 (to either single or family) as long as they are not covered under Medicare. The IRS limit applies to the total employer and employee contributions combined. Employer contributions (if eligible) will go into a Health Savings Account.
Dental InsuranceThere is no cost to the employee for single coverage. Family coverage costs the employee $76.46 per month.
Vision InsuranceVision coverage is available and paid for by the employee at the following monthly rates:
- Employee Only - $5.85
- Employee + Spouse - $11.69
- Employee + Children - $11.31
- Family - $18.35
Plan options include medical and dependent care FSAs, as well as a premium only plan (pre-tax deduction of medical and dental premiums). These amounts cannot be changed during the year unless there is a qualifying life event. All funds must be used by the claims deadline.
- FSA Medical/Health max election of $3,400 per year
- Limited Purpose FSA max election of $3,400 per year (funds can only be used for vision, dental or orthodontia expenses when paired with an HSA until medical deductible has been met)
- FSA Dependent Care max election of $7,500 per year per family ($3,750 if married and filing separately)
Holidays: Full-time employees have approximately 14.5 paid holidays per year, including floating holidays, subject to the terms of the Personnel Policy or Collective Bargaining Agreement as applicable.
Vacation: Full-time employees earn 11 to 23 days per year, depending on tenure. Part-time employees earn pro- rated accruals.
Sick Time: Full-time employees accrue 12 sick days per year. Part-Time employees earn pro-rated accruals.
