GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Chief Business Official, performs highly responsible school business office functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchase orders, and budget tracking. The Fiscal Technician works within a framework of established procedures and performs other duties directly related to this job description.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sets up, organizes and maintains filing systems and procedures, both computerized and hard copy files, for all business office functions.
Receives and records all payments for District accounts receivable. Summarizes and balances recorded entries. Tracks for timely payment and follows up on delinquent accounts.
Processes all District requisitions and purchase orders. Audits and prepares for payment all accounts payable for District. Summarizes and balances recorded entries. Prepares warrants, or reports for county generation of warrants, and distributes warrants in a timely manner.
Updates and maintains computer systems to reflect budgetary changes. Provides projection reports using system control data.
Prepares reconciliations of both the District’s checking and cash accounts maintained by the County Office of Education Treasurer.
Assists the Chief Business Official with annual budget preparation.
Maintains and tracks budgetary processes regarding building projects (ie: modernizations, new school sites, etc.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids; ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels; ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
Knowledge of policies, procedures, and organization of a school district financial office and its systems.
Strong working knowledge of computer operations (spreadsheets, accounting software programs, word processing, etc.) and ability to perform computer operations at high level of proficiency.
Ability to interpret and apply statistical data.
Knowledge of the operation, function and maintenance of duplicating and various office machines.
Skill/knowledge of filing systems.
Ability to exercise good judgment and confidentiality at all times.
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment including a typewriter or computer terminal, copier; bending, reaching to maintain files; hearing to answer telephones; speaking to exchange information; standing for extended periods of time, and sitting and operating a keyboard to enter data into a computer terminal.
Moderate stress level.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Primarily indoor office and school setting.
Temperature – normal climate.
CONTACTS
Daily contact with teachers and District staff.
Regular contact with outside agencies and community members.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. College coursework in accounting/bookkeeping preferred. Five or more years of increasingly advanced accounting/bookkeeping responsibilities, preferably in a school district.
Dexterity and physical condition to maintain a rigorous work schedule and meet standards of physical and mental health. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each principal duty satisfactorily.
