Position Summary
The Fleet Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, safety, and efficiency of the company's fleet vehicles and drivers. This role coordinates vehicle maintenance, inspections, scheduling, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Fleet Lead serves as a key point of contact for drivers, and internal teams to ensure all local deliveries are completed on time. This position also provides guidance and leadership to drivers, promotes safe driving practices, and supports continuous improvement in fleet performance and cost control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and track preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, registrations, and licensing for all fleet vehicles
- Plan and optimize daily driver routes to ensure timely deliveries, efficient use of resources, and reduced fuel and labor costs.
- Serve as primary point of contact for drivers regarding vehicle issues, assignments, and safety concerns
- Oversee vehicle inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly
- Maintain accurate fleet records, including maintenance logs, mileage, fuel usage, and accident reports
- Investigate and document accidents, damage, or safety incidents and coordinate repairs and insurance claims
- Work with service providers to manage maintenance and control costs
- Train drivers on proper vehicle use and safe driving practices
- Process orders to completion through our accounting program (NetSuite)
- Communicate with sales team for order priority, questions, accuracy and customer notifications
- Serve as backup support for other leads in the Warehouse
- Serve as backup support for deliveries when needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Other tasks as assigned
Education and Experience
- Strong leadership skills & driving experience
- Exceptional communication both verbal and non-verbal
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Organization and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and teamwork
- Customer service experience
- Multi-tasking and comfort in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
- Experience in LTL Freight & UPS, USPS small parcel shipping
- Knowledge of shipping rules, regulations, classifications, manifests
- Forklift experience
- Experience safely operating sprinter vans and box trucks
- Maintain a valid drivers license and DOT physical
