The Forklift Operator Order Picker supports the Company’s operations by accurately preparing, packaging, and shipping outbound materials in accordance with customer requirements, carrier standards, and company procedures. This position plays a key role in maintaining product accuracy, shipment quality, and a safe, organized work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pick, pack, and prepare outbound orders according to shipping instructions and customer specifications.
- Use mobile scanning devices to pull parts out of the inventory system.
- Verify product accuracy, quantities, and documentation prior to shipment.
- Stage and load outbound shipments safely and in compliance with company procedures.
- Inspect outgoing materials for damage, defects, or inconsistencies and report issues promptly.
- Generate and apply shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area, including packaging supplies and staging zones.
- Conduct basic equipment inspections and ensure equipment is in proper working condition; report issues promptly.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team to meet productivity, quality, and safety standards.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and accident prevention guidelines while on company property or operating equipment.
- Operate forklifts and other company vehicles in accordance with training and certification requirements.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and general warehouse tasks as assigned.
- Communicate shipment delays, discrepancies, or concerns to the Warehouse Manager.
- Cross train in other shipping functions and assist other departments as needed.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and inventory records accurately and on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a fast paced, climate controlled warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and operate tools or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Communicate clearly in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as required by tasks.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately pick and pull orders.
- Basic computer skills for label creation and shipment documentation.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work instructions.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
- Prior forklift experience or certification.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, or LTL freight systems.
- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS).
