Job Description

Shift:                      8:00am – 4:30pm

Status:                   Full-Time; 10 shifts per biweekly pay period

Weekends:           No

Holidays:               No

 This full-time position will support the overall function of the Medical Equipment office located at the Galleria in Celina. Duties will include but are not limited to managing referrals and patient requests for supplies and equipment, obtaining/maintaining current orders and completing refill requests, obtaining/tracking authorizations, remaining up-to-date on insurance requirements and DME regulations, assisting with billing and patient payments, and providing exceptional customer service both internally and externally. As a department of the hospital, we work closely with many departments and offices within Mercer Health as well as outside of Mercer Health making exceptional customer service a must. This position reports to the Director of Home Care.

           Qualifications/Experience:

·         Associate degree in business/medical field with 3-5 years of experience in DME/medical setting preferred.

Previous experience with submitting and monitoring authorizations with a variety of insurance companies.

·         Working knowledge of DME regulations/insurance requirements preferred.

·         Previous experience with Brightree and Epic software applications preferred.

·         Very strong computer/technology skills with eagerness to learn new skills.

·         Ability to manage conflict, demonstrate empathy and communicate effectively while providing excellent customer service.

·         Strong organizational skills with multitasking and frequent interruptions.

·         Attention to detail is a must.

·         Collaborates and establishes a good working rapport with co-workers and all internal/external customers in order to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.

·         Occasional lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds. At times may be working under stressful conditions or irregular work hours.

·         CPR within 90 days of hire.

          Skill/Ability:

·         Must demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette along with an ability to work with the public. 

·         Perform general clerical, reception, registration, and clinical functions for the department. 

·         Manage appointments and update as needed.

·         Assist patients in obtaining proper fitting equipment/supplies.

·         Requires skills for intake entry of all patients and cash drawer management  

·         Manage patient refill requests accurately along with insurance and order verification.

·         Manage supply inventory and retail products.

·         Required to become skilled in the Electronic Health Record System and other technological systems.

·         Maintain patient records and appointment schedule.

·         Demonstrates/uses effective problem-solving skills. 

·         Ability to work both independently and as a team player, to exercise good judgment, and to successfully manage a variety of items/multi task. 

·         Excellent computer skills and an ability to grasp new computer programs a must.  

·         Requires exceptional organizational skills.

·         Portray a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude to customers.

·         Positive service oriented interpersonal, written and verbal skills. 

·         Must demonstrate effective communication with individuals of all ages.

·         Perform other projects, tasks, or duties as assigned and/or as needed.
