Job Description

 

Shift:                      7:00am – 3:30pm

Status:                   Full-Time; 8 days per bi-weekly pay period

Weekends:           Yes, on-call Rotation

Holidays:                Yes, on-call Rotation

Full-time, 8 shifts per pay period. We are seeking a highly motivated RN with critical care experience to join the Surgery Department as a Recovery Room and Same-Day Surgery nurse. Weekend, weekday and holiday call rotation is required. This position reports to the Director of Surgery.  

Qualifications/Experience:

·         Current Ohio RN licensure.

·         BLS, ACLS, PALS required.

·         Previous surgical experience in Same Day Surgery and PACU preferred.

·         2 years of critical care experience required.

Responsibilities:

·         Requires knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and diagnosis.

·         Must be able to admit patients and prep for surgical procedures.

·         Requires ability to care for patients post operatively and assess them for dismissal.

·         Requires ability to care for and assess patient’s pre operatively.

·         Requires knowledge of a wide range of medications and anesthetics.

·         Responsible for caring for patients in the immediate post-operative period.

·         Responsible for caring for all types of surgical patients post operatively including general surgery, orthopedic, OB/GYN in acute and non-acute situations.

·         Requires ability to assess and treat surgical complications including airway management and circulatory compromise.

·         Requires ability to interpret EKG and recognized dysrhythmias.

·         Requires knowledge of the ventilator.

·         Requires effective communication skills with physicians, nurses and individuals of all ages.

·         Requires basic clinical skills in patient assessment and delivery of care for patients of all ages.

·         Ability to think critically including interpretation, analysis and evaluation.

·         Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving skills.

·         Ability to work independently and as a team player especially in intense situations, to exercise good judgment and successfully manage multi-tasking.

·         Requires call in the evenings, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.

·         Will be available to assist circulator during on-call procedures.

·         Requires computer and keyboarding skills to meet demands of position.

·         Requires a full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination.

·         Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

·         Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.

·         Will be asked to work flexible hours to meet the needs of patient care be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes while on call.
