Job Description

Description

  • Performs and documents all necessary preventive maintenance as listed in Plant Operations policies and procedures.
  • Requisitions materials and parts.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and job specifications for in-house projects and estimates time and materials to be used.
  • Trains and oversees support staff as applicable .
  • Maintains general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall/painting, equipment maintenance, and grounds maintenance skills, to perform work orders neatly and efficiently throughout the facility.
  • Repairs and installs various flooring, wall covering, ceiling tile systems, laminates, storage systems and associated hardware, accurately and neatly.
  • Assists in loading and unloading tools, materials, supplies and equipment, using fork truck when necessary.
  • Assists with outside maintenance including mowing, edging, trimming and various other landscaping projects as well as snow removal/salting.
  • Operates, cleans and repairs power saws, routers, drill presses, portable power tools, other shop and mill tools, and hand tools.
  • Performs minor gas and arc welding for necessary repairs.
  • Knowledge of various governmental and accreditation standards such as CMS, DNV, NFPA, OSHA, MIOSHA, DOT to be gained while employed at ERMC. To know the "why" of processes and procedures.
  • Willing to obtain various educational certificates provided by governmental and accreditation entities.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements

BLS required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. High school graduate or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience required. Minimum of five years’ experience in a trade or have completed a related apprenticeship program. HVAC training and experience desirable. Must possess a current Michigan driver’s license. Ability to complete DOT Hazardous Materials competency.

Summary

Observes the operation of mechanical devices/systems, determines problems and logs corrective action necessary. Maintains HVAC, plumbing, communication/data, electrical and fire systems. Completes preventive maintenance schedules as listed in policies and procedures. Performs drywall repair, surface preparation, and painting. Completes daily work orders as required. Works with other staff on projects as assigned. Takes emergency on-call duty with Plant Manager. Identifies health and safety concerns and unsafe work practices within the workplace. Is involved in developing safe work practices and is held accountable for the day to day efforts of ensuring a safe workplace by following safe work practices.
