Job Description

SUMMARY
The Accountant – General Ledger is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents.  Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, they will be responsible for all aspects of the full-cycle month-end closing and preparing journal entries to post to the general ledger.  The Accountant – General Ledger will ensure completeness and accuracy of GL statements and related accounting activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
•    Prepare, make, and/or review journal entries pertaining to gaming and non-gaming operations into the general ledger system
•    Prepare, analyze, and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc financial reports related to gaming and non-gaming operations.
•    Collaborate with other members of the Finance department and with staff members of other departments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of procedures related to financial data maintenance.
•    Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements, balance sheet account reconciliations, and audit work papers.
•    Attend and participate in meetings to be informed of new rules, regulations and procedures and to discuss scheduling and/or other concerns of the Hotel and/or department.
•    Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
•    Understanding of the accounting process and technical systems involved.
•    Determine alternative solutions to problems, evaluate courses of action and reach sound, non-judgmental management decisions.
•    Possess a strong attention to detail and engaging presentation skills.
•    Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook. 
•    Expertise of Excel.
•    Ability of simple reading, writing, math, and complex task completion skills is required.
•    Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, instructing, following instructions, influencing others, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
•    Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
•    Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
•    Minimum 1 year of experience in casino accounting or any combination of education, training, or experience listed that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
•    Exposure to General Ledger Accounting is preferred.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
•    Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting and occasionally standing, walking, reaching overhead, and bending over during the duration of their shift.
•    Must be able to lift/carry 25lbs or less occasionally.
•    The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both hands and require occasional light grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be constantly required. 
•    Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
•    Work performed indoors, alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around computer equipment.
