About this position: General Maintenance Worker Location: Twentynine Palms, CA

Wage/Salary Range: $26.16 per. hr.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on RO skids, pumps, motors, valves, and piping systems
- Assist with membrane cleaning (CIP systems) and membrane change-outs
- Inspect and service high-pressure pumps, cartridge filters, and housing
- Lubricate, adjust, and replace mechanical components (bearings, seals, belts)
- Support maintenance of chemical feed systems (acid, caustic, antiscalant)
- Support calibration of flow meters, pressure transducers, pH, ORP, and conductivity analyzers
- Replace or repair sensors, wiring, and basic electrical components
- Support maintenance of brine ponds, evaporators, and concentrating handling systems
- Perform scheduled PM tasks on pumps, motors, and treatment systems
- Identify leaks, corrosion, scaling, or abnormal vibrations
- Replace gaskets, seals, filters, and worn components
- Maintain tools and spare parts inventory
- Follow OSHA safety standards, HAZCOM, and plant safety procedures
- Properly use PPE (respirators, goggles, gloves—especially around acids/caustics)
- Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry procedures (if applicable)
- Safely handle and store treatment chemicals
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment rooms, chemical storage areas, and lab spaces
- Assist with minor building repairs (lighting, plumbing, structural)
- Keep outdoor areas (including ponds and piping corridors) safe and accessible
- Record maintenance activities, readings, and repairs in logs or CMMS
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
- Communicate with operators, supervisors, and contractors
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
- Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED (required)
- Trade school or vocational training in maintenance, mechanics, or water systems (preferred but not required)
- Level of Experience Requirements: 0–2 years of general maintenance or industrial experience
- Entry-level candidates accepted if mechanically inclined
- Experience in water treatment or RO systems is a plus (not mandatory).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Basic understanding of:
- Pumps, valves, and piping systems
- Mechanical repairs (gaskets, seals, filters)
- Familiarity with basic electrical concepts (motors, switches) is helpful
- Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – SOP of operational tasks, CIP, operations, etc. (within 12 months of hire)
- Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.
- Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.
- Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.
- Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
- Time management and prioritization – balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Problem‑solving and critical thinking – analyzing issues and selecting appropriate solutions.
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills – building rapport and collaborating effectively with others. Willing to learn and take direction. Ability to work independently and with a team
- Attention to detail – producing accurate, error‑free work.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in water treatment or RO systems
- Knowledge of LSI, scaling, and membrane fouling
- Familiarity with PVC/CPVC piping, grooved systems, and chemical compatibility
- Basic understanding of California water regulations (if applicable)
Necessary Physical Requirements

- This position is subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.
Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
