Job Summary and Purpose
- Performs routine skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work in support of Stafford County Public Schools' operational programs. Responsibilities include assisting with division-wide furniture moves, surplus property management, custodial supply distribution, and support for division-wide events. Work is performed across all school facilities and administrative buildings.
Work Objectives/Essential Functions
- Execute division-wide moving services and ensure safe and efficient relocation of furniture, equipment, and materials.
- Deliver and distribute custodial cleaning supplies and equipment to school campuses and support facilities on established schedules and as needed.
- Support the Division-wide events for HR, Communications, etc. (Art Festival, SLA, Monthly Food bank deliveries)
- Assist with the division's furniture and surplus program, including tagging, inventorying, staging, and coordinating transport of surplus items to designated locations for county auction.
- Provide on-site coordination and lead-level direction to support staff and service contractors during moves, deliveries, and custodial supply operations.
- Assist in repairing custodial equipment; transport equipment to and from repair vendors as needed.
- Support the gym and stage floor refinishing and replacement program by providing access, protecting adjacent areas, and assisting with vendor oversight during floor work.
- Assist with the division-wide recycling program, including collection coordination and compliance monitoring at school sites.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inventory, moving activities, and inspection findings
- Operate department vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to safely transport and handle supplies, furniture, and equipment.
Education and Experience
Education Attainment (Required):
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Education Attainment (Preferred):
Training or coursework operating hand tools, power tools, material handling equipment or moving equipment preferred.
Relevant Experience (Required):
Two (2) or more years of experience in facilities operations, moving and relocation services, warehouse operations, or a closely related field.
Relevant Experience (Preferred):
Experience in a school division or public sector is preferred. Familiarly with custodial products, cleaning equipment and building services is preferred. Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Ability to read and interpret floor plans or basic blueprints is preferred.
Industry Licensure or Certifications (Required):
- Possess a valid Virigina operator’s license; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
Industry Licensure or Certifications (Preferred):
· Forklift operator certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
· OSHA 10 general industry safety certification preferred.
· Hazard Communication (HazCom)/ Right-to-Know training is preferred.
· Custodial or facilities management training certification (e.g., ISSA, CITS, IEHA) preferred.

- Knowledge of moving and relocation logistics, furniture handling, and safe load securing practices.
- Knowledge of custodial supply products, cleaning equipment operation and maintenance, and proper storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Familiarity with asset and surplus management practices in a public-sector environment.
- Ability to operate department vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, delivery logs, inspection reports, and inventory documentation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff, administrators, vendors, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and adjust priorities as directed.
- Appropriate use of written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility in a dynamic, multi-site work environment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic floor plans or blueprints preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and be available on call when needed.
- Must be able to work during inclement weather; attendance during inclement weather is required.
