Location: Rita's on the River, San Antonio, TX

Hours: Full-time or Part-time (Closed on Sundays)

Salary: $75k-$85k annually, commensurate with experience, leadership background, and scope of responsibility


Overview:

Rita's on the River, a popular Tex-Mex destination located on the San Antonio River Walk, is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead one of downtown’s highest-volume restaurant operations. Proudly part of the Weston Corporate Services management group, Rita's on the River is committed to creating memorable guest experiences, growing a strong company culture, and keeping a community-centered leadership.


The General Manager is a key leadership role oversees all Front of House and Back of House operations. This position will serve as the senior on-site operational leader while partnering closely with ownership on scheduling, financial priorities, staffing strategy, and overall business direction. As General Manager, you'll drive financial and operational performance, develop management & frontline talent, and uphold Rita’s reputation for outstanding hospitality in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop restaurant managers, supervisors, and team members to foster a positive, high-performing culture.
  • Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences, service standards, and operational excellence.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management to support business needs.
  • Monitor and drive financial performance, including sales, labor, controllable costs, and profitability goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and team performance through coaching, analysis, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety standards, health regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with ownership and leadership to execute business objectives, improve processes, and support long-term growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement while addressing employee concerns and supporting a positive workplace environment.


Qualifications:

  • Brings a minimum of 5 years of progressive restaurant management experience. This must include at least 2 years in a General Manager or Assistant General Manager role within a high-volume, full-service environment.
  • Maintains flexibility to work 50–60 hours per week during high-volume seasons and 40–50 hours during off-season periods, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak service shifts as needed
  • Understands full restaurant operations, including both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) functions and support needs.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of sales growth, profitability, labor management, COGS, financial reporting, P&L performance, and overall operational excellence.
  • Exhibits the ability to lead, hire, train, coach, and develop high-performing teams while mentoring secondary-level managers to effectively lead, support, and develop their own staff teams.
  • Upholds exceptional guest experience, hospitality standards, and team culture. This also includes showing strength of skill in areas of leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving as well.
  • Executes high-volume service during peak business periods, holidays, conventions, and major events.
  • Adapts quickly to changing business needs, staffing challenges, and fast-paced operational demands while maintaining consistent support of company policies, accountability standards, and a fair, professional workplace environment.
  • Remains actively engaged in daily operations, providing visible floor leadership and support during peak service periods
  • Partners with senior leadership to support strategic goals and long-term operational growth initiatives
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations
  • Holds current ServSafe Management and TABC certifications
  • Demonstrates proficiency with restaurant and workplace systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Toast, 7Shifts, Gusto, or similar platforms


Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as needed; and safely move throughout kitchen, dining, storage, and service areas. The role may include repetitive movement, frequent guest and team communication, and work during high-volume service periods. Employees may be exposed to heat, cold, noise, wet or slippery surfaces, cleaning products, and other conditions common to restaurant operations.
