Summary/Objective
The Graduate/Online Admission Counselor position is focused on recruiting students body for master’s level programs in ministry, education, and business, as well as online bachelor’s and associate’s programs in multiple areas.
The graduate/online admissions counselor is responsible for creating a positive environment that enables prospective students to process through the admissions funnel. With ongoing support, quality and efficient communication to help the student be admitted into a graduate or online degree program and to help the university meet its enrollment goals.
Essential Job Duties
- Provides follow-up to students and parents via phone, letters, email, social networking, text and scheduled appointments
- Advises students and families of admission requirements, transfer guidelines, financial aid and scholarship information, and all other matters of the University.
- Collaborates closely with academic areas to remain aware of changes in academic programs or admissions requirements
- Implement recruitment strategies as outlined in the admissions plan in the assigned territory or section of admissions funnel to include local businesses, K-12 schools and/or church visits, attends college fairs, area receptions, events, and professional conferences.
- Initiates, plans, and executes special projects in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the office.
- Works with students, school officials, church leaders and/or alumni organizations and school and business leaders that assist with the recruitment of students
- Completes routine reports related to recruitment, projections, personal schedule, travel, special programs, and professional development.
- Sets an example of a Christian lifestyle for SBU Community

Position Requirements
Demonstrated success in recruiting and admissions for competitive programs, preferably in graduate admission or adult studies. Demonstrated success in CRM databases and lead tracking, preferably within Slate. Ability and willingness to occasionally travel locally, to represent the college at a recruitment events and conferences.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams; verbal and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, leadership, managerial, project management, and conflict resolution
Preferred
- Master's degree
- 3 years experience in admissions, sales, or marketing
- Experience using Slate CRM
Work Environment
- General office environment with some noise
- Hybrid/remote opportunities available
- Occasionally travel to college or jobs fairs, hotels, conferences, etc.
Physical Abilities
- Occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with students who have inquiries about their tuition bill or financial aid package. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Frequently moves audio/visual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various classroom and event needs
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine and computer printer
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and get in and out of the vehicle frequently during each shift.
