Greenhouse Manager

Department of Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture at Southeast Missouri State University is seeking an outstanding candidate to manage the Charles Hutson Greenhouse.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the Charles Hutson Greenhouse and the Charles Nemanick Alternative Ag Garden
  • Establishment and management of budgets
  • Development and administration of greenhouse policies and procedures, including safety
  • Development and implementation of strategic plan for greenhouse
  • Train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate student employees
  • Complete routine greenhouse maintenance and repairs
  • Support faculty and student research

Position Duties

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture or closely related field
  • Two years of production horticulture experience
  • Ability to train and supervise employees
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and database management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in greenhouse facility management and operations
  • Experience with budget management
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends and during all types of weather
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
