Steelbach is seeking a talented and passionate Grill Cook to join our culinary team. Our grill cooks are responsible for cooking our aged beef over 1000-degree oak and mesquite open fire grille. This will include braising and grilling meat, vegetables, and other types of food as needed. What You’ll Do:
- Braise and grill meat and vegetables with a high degree of skill
- Assist in maintaining inventory by tracking, labeling, and replacing key ingredients
- Prepare meat and vegetables by slicing, cutting, shredding, and tenderizing them as needed
- Communicate with the head chef and wait staff to ensure the timely delivery of all meals
- Comply with food and health regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a workstation that is both clean and sanitary
- Communicate with the restaurant manager about any kitchen supplies and upgrades that are needed
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies.
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions.
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience with grilling steaks and premium proteins.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork.
- Passion for hospitality and culinary excellence.
- Knowledge of different grilling methods like direct heat grilling, smoking, and rotisserie grilling
- Knowledge of industry standards and food safety guidelines
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Culinary school diploma preferred.
- Valid Food Handlers Certificate.
- Previous experience as a line chef, restaurant cook, or prep cook preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Remain standing for extended periods of time.
- Bending, squatting and lifting up to 20 lbs. for short distances.
- Ability to work with varying noise levels
